Shamanism is a Spiritual Practice that has been around for over 50,000 years. The term Shaman comes from Siberia, meaning a person who can walk between the different worlds or realms of reality to bring through healing and guidance.
Shamanism was practiced worldwide all those many years ago and while there was no form of hi-tech communication systems for the Tribes to use, amazingly they all used very similar methods for shifting consciousness, receiving guidance from the spirit realm and bringing about healing for an individual, community or place.
The Shamanic Way is moving through your days with the awareness that everything is energy and everything is connected. With this sense of awareness and connection we can draw on the wealth of wisdom and healing that is available to us from Gaia, the Seasons, Elements, Animals, Plant life, and the cycles of the Moon. We watch the cycle of birth, life and death occur around us everyday, and experience it many times within our lifetime during times of change ~ coming of age/moving between the Maiden, Mother, Crone roles, relationships ending, changing jobs, making life changes. And for every part of our life journey there is reason to celebrate. Even in the transition that we call death, there is reason to celebrate as it is the doorway into another realm of existence.
The way of the Shaman is the path of the "Wounded Healer". It is through the journey of self healing that one can truly assist another on their path. It is walking this path of the Wounded Healer that much is learnt and it is the sharing of the journey that can bring encouragement to others to reclaim their power and live a more "whole" some life.
For me, I have found that the Shamanic Way of living has brought about a huge awareness of how ones energy body can be empowered or dis-empowered depending on the environment. Not only can we be dis-empowered by external influences, we can also dis-empower ourselves through our thought patterns and belief systems that no longer serve us. If we leave issues un-addressed then we move through our days not functioning to our highest possibility. By unraveling the ropes of the past that can be holding us back, we set ourselves free to live fully in our Personal Power, connecting to our Hearts, our Souls from a place of grounded centeredness. It is from this place that everything is possible.
In Shamanic Practice there are many methods used to unravel the limitations and restore power and balance. This all depends on the needs of the individual. Shamanic Journeying is one of the tools used to achieve this.
A Shamanic Journey is where the Practitioner uses shamanic techniques to enter into a shamanic state of consciousness. This can be achieved using the sound of a shamanic drum or rattle which shifts the brain waves from beta to theta, enabling a more receptive state similar to deep meditation and trance. It is in this state that we can access the Spiritual realm to receive guidance and healing.
There are 3 worlds/realms that one journeys too in Shamanic Journeying and each World has a different focus.
Shamanic Counselling
In a Shamanic Counselling session, we explore the issue at hand and together formulate and intention for the client to journey too. The session is recorded which gives the client the opportunity to listen to it when needed. In doing the journey themselves, it helps empower them in their own healing process, building confidence in having a more active role in their own Spiritual Journey.
Soul Retrieval
Soul Loss can occur when a person has experienced a trauma or serious illness. Part of the soul leaves the body during a traumatic experience in order to protect itself but occasionally it does not return. The energy of the soul can stay wandering between the different worlds. Signs of soul loss can be feeling spaced out, having the sense of “I haven’t been the same since”. The Practitioner journeys to track the soul part and return it to the client. This enables the client to be more present in their life.
Power Retrieval
Power loss can occur for many reasons. Intimidation, loss in self-confidence, even illness. It is so important to ensure that we maintain good healthy boundaries so that we can enjoy an energy body that is not lacking in life force energy. For a Power Retrieval, The practitioner journeys to retrieve power for the client. This returns in the guise of an animal guide, offering it's strength and qualities to enable the client to move through times of change or challenging situations with power instead of fear.
Ritual & Ceremony
Ritual and Ceremony have a very powerful and necessary place within an individuals healing journey. For some the physical marking of closure is vital for them to fully give birth to a new beginning. This can be done in many ways, either alone or with the aid of the Shamanic Practitioner and each ritual/ceremony is tailored to the needs and wants of the individual. It is a great opportunity to have a personal expression of strength, courage and a sense of re-connection to inner joy and peace.
I also offer House Clearings, assisting in the re-balancing of the energy within a house due to energy lines, tension within the individuals sharing the space or spirit energy from those those who have passed over but who may not have been able to let go fully of the physical realm to embrace their journey ahead.
In the case where the individual cannot meet in person, what we do is meet up via Skype to connect and explore the issue at hand and formulate an intention that I will go and do a Shamanic Journey on. I record the journey (audio) as I am doing it and then forward it to the individual for them to download, listen too and integrate into their lives. Check out the "On-line sessions" page for more details.

- The Upper World ~ This is where our Spirit Guides, Teachers, Angels, Archangels, Divine Beings reside. We would journey to the Upper World when healing or guidance is being called for.
- The Middle World ~ The world we live in, but we can journey back or forward in time to bring healing, forgiveness, release of power one may have belong to another individual (past) or prepare a space for something you want to bring into your life (future).
- The Lower World ~ The Power Animals are found here. It is to them that a journey is done when the issue has to do with needing more strength, courage, developing qualities to make change in ones life. (Just because it is called the "Lower" world doesn't mean that it is lower in quality). The Lower World is where a journey is done for a Power Retrieval.
